Mike Libby, born in 1976, takes credit for these unique Insect Lab creations. As a multidisciplinary artists, Libby has made many types of art from sculptures to collages out of various materials to give his art the character and beauty that his work possesses. Since 1999, Libby has been actively making his Insect Lab creations and has traveled all over the US and even Europe showing his work at art exhibits (Insect Lab, 2014).
Libby graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design with a degree in Sculpture. He also has attended Vermont Studio Center and the University of Maine at Orono where he has had the opportunity to serve as an artist-in-residence (Insect Lab, 2014).

Today, Libby lives in Portland, Maine where he enjoys biking and staying involved in his community through being a “visiting artist at several educational institutions, an entrepreneur and an advocate for personal and social creativity,” (Insect Lab, 2014).
